A lady has been trapped in an 8-metre sinkhole after it opened up in front of Jalan Masjid India, near the Malayan Mansion, in Kuala Lumpur at 8.22am today (23 August 2024).
A search and rescue operation for the 48-year-old is still underway by the JBPM.

Update:
The woman who fell into a sinkhole near Masjid India is believed to have been swept away by strong underground currents.
"There is a strong water current that flows to the end of the road.
"We've covered the area, but she has not been found," says KL police.
KL Police Chief Rusdi Isa says that various factors need to be considered, including the underground gas conditions.
"Right now, the operation is proceeding in stages, and discussions are ongoing with Indah Water and relevant agencies regarding the infrastructure plan."
I've been informed that if we close any pipes or drains, it could potentially cause flooding in the area," adds Rusdi.
The victim, along with several family members, had been visiting Malaysia for nearly two months and was planning to fly back to India tomorrow.
Based on the closed-circuit television footage at the scene, the woman was seen walking before suddenly falling near a concrete bench.
A man was also seen nearly falling but managed to save himself in time.
